For a friend who worries about a parent living alone, or for your own brother or sister. One payment of $299, no subscription, and a card you can print or send.

Someone who loves you set up Hello, a friendly daily phone call. Nothing to install, nothing to learn. It will introduce itself.

How to give Hello

1. Get the Hello app on your iPhone and sign in.
2. Go to Settings › Subscription › Gift a year of Hello. Add a note if you like.
3. Pay once through the App Store ($299). You get a gift code right away, and a link to a page with a printable card.
4. Send the code or the link, or print the card and put it in the mail.

How to redeem a gift

1. Get the Hello app on your iPhone and set up your family and your parent.
2. When the app offers plans, tap Redeem a gift and type the code. If you already subscribe, go to Settings › Subscription › Redeem a gift code.
3. Your year of Hello starts that day. Nothing renews and nobody is charged when it ends.

Good to know

• A gift code can be redeemed any time within a year of purchase. The year of calls starts on redemption.
• The person who buys the gift isn’t subscribed and isn’t charged again.
• A gift covers one parent and one daily call, like the Annual plan. The family can add a second parent or an evening call themselves.
• Refunds for gift purchases are handled by Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com). A refunded code stops working.
