Accessibility statement
Last updated September 25, 2026
Hello is for parents who may not see, hear or move as easily as they once did, and for busy families. We build to WCAG 2.2 AA and test every release with VoiceOver.
Illuminant Inc wants everyone to be able to use Hello: the parents it calls, and the families who look after them.
The call
- Hello works on any phone, including landlines and flip phones. There is nothing to install and nothing to learn.
- Hello speaks slowly and clearly, waits patiently for an answer, and allows for the longer pauses many older adults take mid-sentence.
- Your parent can ask Hello to repeat itself, slow down or speak up at any time.
- Hello ends the call whenever your parent wants to.
The Hello family app
- It supports VoiceOver, Dynamic Type (including the largest accessibility sizes), Reduce Transparency, Reduce Motion, and Dark Mode.
- Text and controls meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast, and touch targets are at least 44 points.
- Every release is checked by an automated accessibility audit of its main screens. The audit must find zero unlabelled controls before we ship.
- Alerts also use haptics.
The Hello Parent app
- A high-contrast design with very large buttons (72 points tall) and a single setting: text size.
- It works with Apple’s Assistive Access, the simplified iPhone and iPad experience for people with cognitive disabilities.
- “Talk to Hello” and “Call family” are one tap each.
This website
This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. It:
- uses semantic headings and landmarks and a “skip to content” link;
- supports keyboard navigation with visible focus;
- has text alternatives for images, and enough colour contrast in light and dark modes;
- respects your browser’s text size and reduced-motion settings;
- is tested with automated accessibility checks on every change.
Known limitations
- The Hello family app and Parent app are available for iPhone and iPad only.
- Hello’s calls are in English. Spanish is planned.
- Hello cannot yet place calls through relay services for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Tell us about a barrier
If something in Hello is hard to use, we want to know. Write to support@illuminantinc.com with what you were trying to do and what happened. We aim to reply within 2 business days and will tell you what we plan to do about it.
